The grass is billowing by the steed.
The night is so very clear.
all I really, really need.
is to know that you are there.
The moon is shining brilliantly white.
the stars are twinkling everywhere.
so why am I crying on this beautiful night?
I am crying because you are not there.

I am love in the face of hate
I am kindness in the face of ridicule
I am strength in the face of diversity
I am patience in the face of the mule I will not run away from fear, I will not run and hide
I am bravery, I am pride
I will make a difference in this world, big or small
That is my promise to me , my promise to all

Two people in one,
one happy, one sad,
Two sides of me,
one mad and one glad.

There's only one side.
I try to let show;
my feelings inside.
the others don't know.

You're just a teenager, too rebellious and wild to think.
You're on the brink of falling over the edge.

Don't take a step too far, be cautious,
right now you're on the ledge.

I'm just trying to help, so don't raise your voice.
It's not your choice anymore.

All I can see above the mountain.
Of books is your head.
5 more books pile.
onto my desk.

I believed you for years.
I thought I was worthless.
Because my mother told me,
"The teacher's always right."

I looked at her to see.
mascara running down the sides of her face.
Mixing with a lot of tears.
Of frustration mostly.

She glanced at me through tear glass eyes.
Like a rain showered wind shield without window wipers.
Stopping to take my hand.
playing with my fingers.
carefully fingering my rings.

I knew it was you
when I first laid eyes.
I wanted you so bad
but I thought you were way out of my league.

You use to be a girl in my class
you never meant that much to me
You sat beside me while we learned our ABC's.
But slowly we became best friends
our friendship made me glad
I never thought you would
become the friend I never had.

How I wish I could look back to understand
back to when lives were taken
back to when families were separated
back to when children were murdered
I wish I could have helped to save them
I wish I could have tried to understand
this senseless taking of human life.

When I look into these eyes
I find things no one else ever catches a glimpse at
I see this fear of judgment
that makes her cower at confrontation
I see this hopelessness for the future
that make her choices her burden alone

I can't stop myself from loving you
And countless nights I've cried for you
Just because my feelings are true.
You're up and down
Your feelings are all around
Don't lie to me
You don't love me.

I got your back
You got mine,
I'll help you out Anytime.
If a broken heart
Needs a mend,
I'll be right there
To the end.

As I stare at the sky,
I see a shooting star.
I think of you
And all that we could be.
I made a wish
Upon that shooting star,
Hoping you would love me
The way that I love you.
